Acknowledge Your Need for a Savior
The Bible teaches that everyone has sinned and falls short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from God, and we can’t fix this separation by our own efforts (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Believe in Jesus Christ
Jesus is God’s Son, who came to earth, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross for our sins. He rose from the dead, conquering sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:3-5). Believing in Jesus means trusting that His sacrifice paid for your sins and that He alone can save you. (John 14:6)
Repent of Your Sins
Repentance means turning away from sin and choosing to follow God. It’s not about being perfect but about surrendering your life to God and allowing Him to transform you (Acts 3:19).
Confess Jesus as Lord
Romans 10:9 says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” This means accepting Jesus not only as your Savior but as the Lord of your life.
Pray and Ask Jesus into Your Life
There’s no official prayer, but you can sincerely pray something like this: “Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sins and invite You into my life. Be my Lord and Savior. Help me to follow You. Amen.”
Get Connected and Grow in Your Faith
- Read the Bible – The Bible is God’s Word and will help you grow in your new faith. Start with the Gospel of John.
- Pray Daily – Talk to God regularly. Prayer is simply a conversation with Him.
- Find a Bible-believing Church like FBCTV – Surround yourself with other Christians who can encourage and support you.
- Get Baptized – Baptism is an outward sign of your new faith (Acts 2:38).
- Share Your Faith – Tell others about Jesus and what He has done in your life.
I would like to talk with someone about becoming a Christian:
I want to be Baptized
Being baptized is a significant spiritual act in Christianity. It symbolizes a person’s faith, repentance, and commitment to following Jesus Christ. Baptism represents several key things:
Cleansing from Sin
Water baptism symbolizes being washed clean from sin and receiving new life in Christ (Acts 22:16)
Identification with Christ
Baptism represents Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. When a person is submerged in water and then raised up, it symbolizes dying to sin and being raised to new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-4).
Public Declaration of Faith
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It’s a way to publicly declare one’s faith and commitment to Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20).
Entering God’s Family
It signifies joining the body of Christ, the Church, and becoming part of the Christian community (Galatians 3:26-27).
Believer’s baptism is when a person decides to be baptized after reaching an age where they can understand and profess their faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism emphasizes your personal belief and commitment; it occurs after a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ has begun. Baptism is your public declaration that you are a Christ follower, symbolizing the cleansing of sins and your new life in Christ.
